New Executive Director Selected

January 26, 2018

The Board of the Newaygo County Museum and Heritage Center has selected Mr. Steven J. Radtke to succeed Roxanne Bassett, who will be retiring as executive director the end of February.  With 11 years of experience in all facets of museum operations at the Tri-Cities Museum in Grand Haven, Mr. Radtke looks forward to continuing the momentum and building on the strides the museum has made to date.

A native of Muskegon, Steven holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Central Michigan University with a focus in museum studies.  Steven began his association with the Tri-Cities Museum in 2005 as Curator of Exhibits. In 2009, he took on the additional role of Curator of Collections. In 2012, he accepted the position of Executive Director.

Steven has served on the Grand Haven Lighthouse Conservancy Committee, on the Grand Haven Main Street Downtown Development Authority, and as Chair of the Preservation and Place Committee. He currently serves as the Vice President of the Muskegon Historic District Commission, and as the Design Chair of the Ottawa County Courthouse Learning Center.

In 2015, he received the Chamber of Commerce “20 under 40” Award for Excellence in Leadership, and has graduated from the Chamber of Commerce Leadership Connect program. He also advocates statewide for historical preservation.

We will welcome Steven on January 22, and look forward to the continued progress of the Museum and Heritage Center under his leadership.
